Welcome To Troop 42 of New Fairfield!

sponsored by the New Fairfield Lions Club, and a member of the Scatacook District of the Connecticut Yankee Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Join Us!


We are a boy-led troop, offering a Scouting program with emphasis on camping and outdoor skills. Our Scouts actively practice the leadership skills they'll use as adults.  All boys age 11 to 17, in grades 6 or higher, are welcome to join us or to visit a meeting.   Please contact our Committee Chairman or Scoutmaster to arrange your visit to a meeting - we believe you'll become one of our newest members.

News You Can Use:

  • The neeting on September 12 is a parent meeting.
  • Our first campout (September 16-17, 2017) will be an overnight backpacking trip at Bear Mountain.  Please note the following:
    You MUST have a backpack, no daypacks! The troop has a few packs, so please come to a troop meeting to inquire if your son can be fit to the packs on hand. Please do not add additional items to the list. This is one overnight and heavy packs equal tough hiking. If your son wants to use a hiking stick or trekking poles he may;  but he assumes the responsibilities of bringing them. Adults will not manage youth hiking poles..
    Water bottles must be filled prior to us leaving. We will refill as water on the trail permits. Permission slip is due on or before 9/12 meeting.
  • The troop is planning a special event to celebrate Troop 42 Eagle scouts (past and present) . Saturday November 25th 3-5 PM Company A Firehouse. Directions here.   If you are an Eagle Scout from Troop 42 please email t42eaglealumni@nftroop42.org with your latest contact information so you can be added to the list. If you know any Eagle Scout from Troop 42 please pass this information along. 
  • The Troop Controlled Substance Policy is now available
