Welcome To Troop 42 of New Fairfield!

sponsored by the New Fairfield Lions Club, and a member of the Scatacook District of the Connecticut Yankee Council, Boy Scouts of America.

We are a boy-led troop, offering a Scouting program with emphasis on camping and outdoor skills. Our Scouts actively practice the leadership skills they'll use as adults.  All boys age 11 to 17, in grades 6 or higher, are welcome to join us or to visit a meeting.   Please contact our Committee Chairman or Scoutmaster to arrange your visit to a meeting - we believe you'll become one of our newest members.

News You Can Use:

  • Bottle/Can Drive on Saturday, June 10, 2017 @Stop & Shop  9:00am - 4:00pm (Set-up @ 8:30am)  The charities donated to will be Ann’s Place and The Trolley Museum. There will be a sign up sheet at the next 2 meetings for time slots.  We will need adults also.
  • Sunday June 11th 20117- 9:00 AM- 1:00 P.M. Aleksey will be working on his Eagle Scout Project. The project is to build at least four bat houses. These bat houses will be built and hung on buildings at the Great Hollow Nature Preserve (GHNP).  He needs at least 2 to 4 volunteers to oversee younger boy scouts assembling and staining the bat houses. He also needs one adult volunteer that is a carpenter to operate power tools as boy scouts are not allowed to operate any power tools. He also needs a volunteer that is an expert on administering first aid, if needed.  An adult may also needed to help with hanging the bat houses as climbing a ladder is needed to attach the bat house to the building. The GHNP is located on 225 Route 37 in New Fairfield (when traveling north on 37, GHNP is on the left side just after Haviland Hollow Road).   • Independence Day Family Breakfast. Tuesday July 4th 7-9 AM in the parking lot of the NF Senior Center. See flyer for details
  • The troop is planning a special event to celebrate Troop 42 Eagle scouts (past and present) . Final date and location are being finalized. If you are an Eagle Scout from Troop 42 please email t42eaglealumni@nftroop42.org with your latest contact information so you can be added to the list. If you know any Eagle Scout from Troop 42 please pass this information along.
