We are a boy-led troop, offering a Scouting program with emphasis on camping and outdoor skills. Our Scouts actively practice the leadership skills they'll use as adults.  All boys age 11 to 17, in grades 6 or higher, are welcome to join us or to visit a meeting.   Please contact our Committee Chairman or Scoutmaster to arrange your visit to a meeting - we believe you'll become one of our newest members.

News You Can Use:

  • The parent meeting will be Tues. Sept. 8 at 7:30 PM in the Middle School Cafeteria.  This is a very important meeting discussing program changes and each scouting family should have at least one parent or guardian attend, or both if possible.  We will discuss the overall Scouting program and some of the changes in the program, financial obligations, wreath quotas and buy out, forms, open adult positions within the troop, and questions and answers.
  • The 2015-16 troop calendars for camping and weekly meetings are available on the calendar page.  
  • Volunteers are needed to help on Sept 26 with canoeing instruction for the Girl Scout Encampment.  Contact Mr. Welp if you're interested.
  • Jeremy P's Eagle project days are Sun., Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and if needed, Sun., Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Both will be at 46 Fairfield Dr.  The project is constructing garden boxes for Ability Beyond group homes.  Bring work gloves and goggles. Pizza lunch will be provided.
  • Daniel F's Eagle project work days will be on Sept. 12 and 13 (if needed), with backup dates of Oct. 10 and 11 (if needed).  The project is clearing and leveling a large area behind the First Church of Danbury in preparation for a meditation labyrinth.
  • Zach F's Eagle project work day is scheduled for Sept. 26.  The project is building  shelving units for Ann’s Place, a donation-based cancer therapy center.
  • The West Point Day Trip, Scout Day, Tours and Football Game will be on Sat. Nov. 14.  Tours will be run by Cadets at no additional cost and may include more than just a walking tour of the grounds.  Scouts may have a chance to checkout many of the fun toys the Cadets play with.  The game is at noon vs. Tulane.  Seats will be in theNorth End Zone Section #23.  Costs are $25 per ticket, with parking passes for adults driving $15 per vehicle.  Departure from New Fairfield will be at 7:00 in order to arrive in time for the parade.
  • Equipment return information is posted under "Shanty Rules" available under the equipment section of the Camping page.  There's also information on what to do when you take home equipment after a camping trip in the Troop 42 Equipment Maintenance Procedures.  The procedures can be found under the equipment section of the Camping page or in the camping section of the Forms page
  • Troop 42 Class B Sweatshirts from the Salesmanship Merit Badge are still available for $25 each. Contact the sweatshirt coordinator if you would like a sweatshirt or have any questions
