We are a boy-led troop, offering a Scouting program with emphasis on camping and outdoor skills. Our Scouts actively practice the leadership skills they'll use as adults.  All boys age 11 to 17, in grades 6 or higher, are welcome to join us or to visit a meeting.   Please contact our Committee Chairman or Scoutmaster to arrange your visit to a meeting - we believe you'll become one of our newest members.

News You Can Use:

  • Volunteers are needed to staff the First Aid station for the Fishing Derby in Danbury.  Contact the Scoutmaster if you can help on the morning of May 16.
  • Save the Date - June 14, 2015.  The Eagle Court of Honor for Stephen, Nick, Nathaniel and Jake will be on at the Company A Firehouse at 2:30 p.m.  Each scouts will be invited with 1 parent.  Contact the organizers if you have questions.
  • The May 5 meeting will be the completion of Youth Protection Training and will be a Class B uniform meeting.  The May 12 meeting will be at Squantz Pond and is also a Class B uniform meeting.
  • Updated Summer Camp Merit Badge information is available on the Summer Camp page.
  • The annual Lion's clean-up at Camp Candlewood is scheduled for May 27, starting around 4:00 p.m.
  • The Independence Day Parade and Pancake Breakfast will be on July 4.  The troop will march as a unit after the breakfast.  Volunteers will be needed for setup on July 3 and for cooking and serving on July 4.  Contact the coordinator to volunteer or ask questions.
  • Lion's Club Carnival Set Up and Take Down will be on July 12 at 8:00 a.m. and July 19.
  • Updated equipment return information is posted under "Shanty Rules" available under the equipment section of the Camping page.  There's also information on what to do when you take home equipment after a camping trip in the Troop 42 Equipment Maintenance Procedures.  The procedures can be found under the equipment section of the Camping page or in the camping section of the Forms page
  • Troop 42 Class B Sweatshirts from the Salesmanship Merit Badge are still available for $25 each. Contact the sweatshirt coordinator if you would like a sweatshirt or have any questions
